And no, you can't just re-save it in the creation kit. Though now I hear there's a plugin for TES5Edit that can backport esps for you, but I have yet to try it out.
That's the only backporting I've ever gotten to work. I just open it up in TES5Edit (yes, you can do that with SE esps) and just make another mod with identical edits. That's it.įor mods that I have back-ported, actually, I don't do this with the original file. The only files that I know of that work in both versions are texture and sound files. They will display in-game, but using a mesh for the wrong version will give you relentless crashes. That said, no, meshes aren't compatible between the two versions.
I don't think its possible to back-port meshes, and I chose to play it safe by first doing this to a mesh that was ported from LE! I tried to use Cathedral Assets Optimizer to back-port a mesh, and the result kept giving my crashes in-game.
